Country music star Keith Urban is reportedly heartbroken following reports that his ex-wife, actress Nicole Kidman, has begun a new romance. According to New Idea, cited by the Daily Mail, Urban, 58, was "absolutely devastated" to learn that Kidman, 59, is allegedly seeing private-equity businessman Michael Reinstein.
The reports follow photographs that appear to show Kidman and Reinstein in an affectionate display during a recent outing in the Italian Riviera, where they were seen holding hands and sharing a kiss. An insider told the Daily Mail that these images were a "painful blow" to Urban, who had reportedly maintained hope for a reconciliation with Kidman.
"Up until now, the door had been firmly closed on his relationship with Nicole," the insider claimed. "But now he still had hopes there might be a chance at reconciliation. He's absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again."
Despite his reported feelings, the source suggested that seeing Kidman move on might prompt Urban to do the same, though he would prefer to keep any future relationships private.
Kidman and Urban were married for nearly two decades and share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith, 15. Their separation became public in September of last year, with the divorce officially finalized in January. The couple reportedly experienced a rocky period in the summer of 2025, with the separation being a long-term development.
In March, Kidman spoke to Variety about the split, stating she was "moving forward" and focusing on her family. "What I'm grateful for is my family, and keeping them as is, and moving forward. That's that," she said. "I'm staying in a place of, 'We are a family,' and that's what we'll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women."
When asked if she was doing alright after the split, Kidman responded, "I am, because I'm always going to be moving toward what's good."
Sources close to Kidman told the Daily Mail that she "deserves to find happiness" after her marriage to Urban. The insider added that Kidman never thought her marriage wouldn't work out and she tried her best to keep her family intact. Her daughters are described as her best friends, and she appears content in her life, maintaining a private personal life.
Earlier reports in June linked Kidman to a "high-profile businessman," with online gossip site DeuxMoi indicating the relationship was developing slowly and kept out of the public eye.
