Kate Phillips Shines at "The Yellow Tie" Premiere
Peaky Blinders star attends the premiere of a biographical drama about conductor Sergiu Celibidache, alongside co-star Miranda Richardson and other notable figures.
Kate Phillips, known for her role in "Peaky Blinders," graced "The Yellow Tie" premiere in London on Wednesday, exuding glamour in a striking black two-piece ensemble. The actress, 37, captured attention on the red carpet for the star-studded event.
Phillips' outfit featured a sheer black tie-up top paired with a flowing tulle midi skirt, complemented by black heels and understated accessories. Elsewhere on the carpet, her "Peaky Blinders" co-star Miranda Richardson opted for an elegant one-shoulder yellow dress. Tamzin Merchant also made a sartorial statement in an off-the-shoulder black midi dress, accessorized with vibrant red boots.
"The Yellow Tie" is a biographical drama focusing on the life and career of Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache, tracing his ascent to become one of the 20th century's most acclaimed conductors. The film delves into his passion for music, the obstacles he encountered, and the personal compromises he made.
Directed by Serge Ioan Celibidache, the son of the conductor, the film is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on October 9. Sean Bean also appeared at the premiere, looking dapper in a classic black suit alongside his wife, Ashley. Ben Schnetzer was seen in a grey suit, while Adela Vrinceanu stunned in a lace maxi dress and Hayley Palmer wore a black halter neck maxi dress.
Phillips gained significant recognition in 2015 for her portrayal of Jane Seymour in the BBC miniseries "Wolf Hall." She later became widely recognized for her role as Linda Shelby in "Peaky Blinders," appearing in three seasons of the popular BBC drama. Phillips' departure from the role for the 2026 film "Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man" surprised fans.
Regarding her decision not to reprise the role of Linda, Phillips commented, "It was such an amazing show to be part of and Steven Knight still continues to have ideas for the life and the future of Peaky Blinders, and that's always lovely to kind of engage with his hopes and dreams for the show. But the life of an actor is, you're sort of always at the behest of other people's visions, and sometimes it's very much a wait and see kind of game. But I'm excited to see the film."
Phillips played Linda, the wife of Arthur Shelby, portrayed by Paul Anderson. Their on-screen relationship deteriorated due to Arthur's volatile nature, leading Linda to attempt to kill him and ultimately leave their marriage in season five. Her final appearance was at Tommy Shelby's farewell dinner in season six, where Tommy asked her to look after Arthur in his absence.
Since her time with the Shelby family, Phillips has continued to cultivate a successful career across television, film, and theater. She stars as Eliza Scarlet in "Miss Scarlet" and revisited her role as Jane Seymour in "Wolf Hall." Phillips also made her West End debut as Valerie in the 30th-anniversary revival of Conor McPherson's play "The Weir."
