Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere, co-stars in the FX series "The Shards," are the subjects of Vogue's September issue cover, a striking echo of their celebrity parents' past.

The young actors channel their parents, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, who were themselves featured on the cover of Vogue in November 1992. Gerber, 24, is pictured with her arm around Gere, 26, both adorned in Chanel. Gerber wears a metallic skirt suit, while Gere sports jeans with a tie and blazer, ensembles befitting the prep school setting of their show.

An '80s-Inspired Fashion Spread

The accompanying photo spread draws inspiration from the 1980s, the era in which "The Shards" is set. Gerber is seen in a red silk and black lace gown by Valentino and an oversized Dolce & Gabbana pinstriped suit. Gere models suits from Giorgio Armani, Saint Laurent, and other designers.

In contrast to their children's 2026 cover, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, who were married from 1991 to 1995, posed together on a beach for their 1992 Vogue feature, with windblown hair and an embrace. Crawford later married Rande Gerber in 1998, and Gere wed Homer's mother, Carey Lowell, in 2002.

Navigating a Legacy

Gerber, who has been modeling since age 10, expressed a desire not to overshadow her parents' established careers. "I never wanted to be that child coming in and ruining all the hard work they’ve done," she told Vogue, noting her academic drive, inspired by her valedictorian mother.

Gere, embarking on his first on-screen role in "The Shards," received advice from his father. "I said to him, ‘Homer, unfortunately with this show, it’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor. But what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder,'" Gere recounted his father telling him.
