John Stamos has consistently turned down offers to compete on "Dancing With the Stars," stating that he does not want to endure the physical suffering he observes in the show's celebrity contestants. Stamos revealed on a recent episode of "The Bobbycast" podcast that he receives an invitation to join the show "every single season" but has always declined.
"What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools," Stamos told podcast host Bobby Bones. "They’re breaking their feet, calluses. I don’t want that."
The "Full House" star, 62, has been explicit with producers about his decision, saying, "Don’t ever ask me again."
Bones, who won "Dancing With the Stars" in 2018, attempted to persuade Stamos, suggesting he would "learn so much." Stamos, however, jokingly referenced Bones's win alongside "Fuller House" alum Juan Pablo Di Pace, who finished fifth that season, and quipped that the show might be "rigged."
Stamos's reluctance to participate predates his recent comments. In 2010, he publicly declined an invitation to compete, writing on X (formerly Twitter) that he was "flattered to be asked" but was "not a dancer." At that time, former "DWTS" pro Karina Smirnoff had expressed interest in being his on-screen partner, believing he could be a "great dancer."
Despite his refusal to compete, Stamos has appeared on "Dancing With the Stars" in a non-competitive capacity. In 2010, he performed on the show alongside The Beach Boys, where the group played a medley of their hits.
