Jim Curtis, boyfriend of actress Jennifer Aniston, has spoken about the challenges of adjusting to public scrutiny following the emergence of their relationship. Curtis, who works as a hypnotist and wellness coach, described an initial urge to search for his name online amidst the media attention.
"That was new," Curtis said during an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. "To be quite honest, that was something to get used to... I've been pretty public for a long time, but never this level."
He explained that while he has been in the public eye, his previous relationships did not attract the same level of media interest. "I've never been in the Hollywood kind of trades or press or no one's really cared who I've dated in the past. That was an adjustment for me, but it was a real learning experience too."
Curtis admitted to feeling defensive about headlines that he felt misrepresented him or were fabricated. He recounted thinking that publications could have easily verified facts by checking his professional profiles. However, he came to a realization about the nature of public attention. "Oh, you know what? This is your lesson that it doesn't matter what people are saying or thinking or doing... your work and who you're helping is what matters most."
This realization led him to resist the impulse to check online news about himself. "And so don't Google yourself again, Jim, to see what the news is saying today."
He noted that it took several months to reach this point. Curtis also shared anecdotes about his family sending him private moments that had been made public, like a photograph of him on a boat. He stressed that these were simply private moments for any couple, but they were highlighted due to their public nature.
Curtis acknowledged that some of the inaccurate press had been hurtful, reflecting on why negativity often garners more attention. "Some of some things have hurt my feelings," he said. "Sometimes I think, why do people like the negative so much? And it's like 'Oh people write really negative things, it's really nasty things because... there's a part of us, there's that shadow self that's really attracted to that, and if you're just writing nice things all the time, you know, people want a horror show too."
Aniston and Curtis were first linked romantically in the summer of 2025 while on vacation with friends. They celebrated their one-year dating anniversary in May 2026. A source told the Daily Mail that the couple planned a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to mark the occasion.
According to the source, Curtis has integrated well into Aniston's circle of friends, which includes notable figures like Sandra Bullock, Adam Sandler, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes. "Jim fits right in with the crowd, they think he is a cool guy, which is very relaxing for Jen. She doesn't have to sell Jim, everyone is sold on him!"
The source also suggested that a key aspect of their relationship is the absence of career-based competition, a contrast to some of Aniston's past relationships. "It is all about her and how she feels and what she needs," the source said. "He never talks about his career or tries to network with her contacts, he has no interest in being an actor or being famous. She has said with him she can exhale, she can let herself go and breathe because there is no pressure."
Curtis's background as a life coach has reportedly made him a supportive figure not only for Aniston but also for her friends. "Very often Jim gets people to take deep breaths, to focus on the here and now, to appreciate the good things in life, he is like a human peace sign. He is the dude everyone gravitates toward at a party," the insider shared.
Aniston and Curtis began dating in early 2025 and were first seen together publicly in July of that year during a vacation with friends. They made their first official public appearance at the ELLE Women in Hollywood event in Beverly Hills on November 17, 2025. Their relationship became Instagram official around November 2, 2025, when Aniston shared a photo of them together on the platform.
Earlier in 2026, Curtis mentioned on the Today show that they were introduced by mutual friends. "We were just introduced by friends. That's it. We found out that we had mutual friends and we started to just chat," he said. "It took a long time, we chatted for a long time and we became close."
