Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, surprised fans at his "Reasonable Doubt" 30th anniversary concert at Yankee Stadium in New York by bringing his wife, Beyoncé, and their 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, onstage for performances.
The first of three shows celebrating the 1996 album kicked off Friday night. During his performance of "Can't Knock The Hustle," Beyoncé joined Jay-Z to perform Mary J. Blige's part of the song. She wore a custom Giuseppe di Morabito blazer adorned with crystal pinstripes and tailored capri pants. The couple shared a kiss before she exited the stage.
Later, Blue Ivy took the stage to play the piano for Jay-Z's 1996 song "Feelin' It." The rapper introduced his daughter as "the legendary Blue Ivy Carter" to the sold-out crowd. Jay-Z has previously described Blue Ivy as a gifted pianist who taught herself to play.
"She won't let us get her a teacher. She doesn't want it to be a job. But she has perfect pitch. If she hears a song, she'll be like, 'Play it again,' and then she'll teach herself," Jay-Z said in an interview earlier this year. "That's just talent. She doesn't work at that. She worked at this, and it makes me proud that she fought for something that she really wanted to do."
Jay-Z's concert series continues at Yankee Stadium on Saturday with a show honoring the 25th anniversary of his 2005 album, "The Blueprint," and on Sunday with a performance featuring an expanded setlist spanning his catalog.
