Jamie Miller, a Welsh singer once known for his appearance on "The Voice UK," has achieved a significant career milestone with his song "Babydoll" reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. The success of the track has been amplified by a viral dance trend on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, which has featured a growing list of well-known celebrities.

The 29-year-old singer has actively promoted "Babydoll" through numerous videos showcasing the now-familiar dance. These promotional efforts have gained traction with the involvement of several high-profile figures, including "Off Campus" star Antonio Cipriano, singer Meghan Trainor, "Little Mix" member Perrie Edwards, and presenter Alison Hammond. Miller recently performed the song on "Strictly Come Dancing," further cementing its popularity.

Miller's ascent to the top of the charts comes nearly a decade after his appearance on "The Voice UK" in 2017, where he finished third. At the time, he was a 19-year-old call center worker who was coached by Jennifer Hudson.

Following his "The Voice UK" stint, Miller continued to build his music career by posting cover songs on social media. His talent caught the attention of Khloé Kardashian, which eventually led to offers from record labels. He signed with Atlantic Records, released an EP titled "Broken Memories," and achieved a notable hit with the 2021 ballad "Here's Your Perfect." However, "Babydoll" marks his most significant mainstream success.

With "Babydoll" at No. 1, Miller has become the first Welsh artist to top the chart in 15 years and the first solo male Welsh artist to do so in 41 years. His success has been met with encouragement from celebrity friends and former collaborators.

Emma Willis, who hosted "The Voice UK" when Miller competed, reunited with him on "Strictly Come Dancing." Willis shared her support on Instagram, recalling their first meeting in 2016 and praising Miller's decade-long dedication and resilience. "Jamie has worked his a*** off over the last decade, grafting away, taking every opportunity and never giving up," Willis wrote. "That determination, resilience and tenacity have served him well, and to see him now, getting his moment and the recognition he deserves, makes me absolutely overjoyed!"

Mollie King, host of a show on Radio 1, also featured Miller and participated in the "Babydoll" dance. King expressed her happiness for his success, stating, "I've been really rooting for Jamie for a while and am over the moon to see the success he's having with Babydoll!"

Reflecting on his recent success in a Capital Radio interview, Miller expressed his ongoing process of coming to terms with his current fame. "I've been doing music for a long time, and I've made a fan base over the past nine years. But like it's like crazy everywhere I go now," he said. "I think it's just I'm trying to process in real time because I still just see myself as like a kid trying to make it... It's like everything that I've ever dreamed about since I was a kid happening to me within the span of eight to 12 weeks."

He described his time on "The Voice" as a "beautiful experience" and a "wicked" stepping stone that taught him a lot. Miller also confirmed that Jennifer Hudson has remained a mentor and maintained contact throughout his career.
