Jamie Miller Becomes First Welsh Artist in 15 Years to Top UK Singles Chart

Jamie Miller, a singer from Pontprennau in Cardiff, has achieved a career milestone by becoming the first Welsh artist in 15 years to top the UK singles chart. His viral TikTok hit, "Babydoll," secured the number one spot, narrowly surpassing Tate McRae's "Housewife," according to the Official Charts Company.

This achievement makes Miller the first Welsh artist to reach number one on the UK singles chart since Sian Evans featured on DJ Fresh's "Louder" in 2011. Furthermore, Miller is the first solo male Welsh artist to claim the top position in 41 years, following Shakin' Stevens' success with "Merry Christmas Everyone" in 1985.

"Babydoll," released on August 7, gained significant traction after actress Jennifer Love Hewitt featured the song in a series of videos. The song's success comes after Miller, 29, had reportedly considered quitting music prior to its release.

"I don't even know what to say other than thank you so much for getting me Number 1, this is the biggest thing that's ever happened to me in my life, I love you guys," Miller told Charts upon receiving the news.
