Jamie Durie has reduced the asking price of his Avalon mansion by $5 million, relisting the six-bedroom waterfront property for $28 million after it did not sell at auction earlier this year. The home was originally listed at $33 million.

Durie and his fiancée, Ameka Jane, spent 10 years planning and constructing the home, which they described as their 'forever home.' The property was purchased for $2.27 million in 2015, and Durie stated last year that he had received a private offer exceeding $30 million. Despite this offer, the couple is now seeking $28 million for the residence.

The construction of the sustainable home involved an investment of $3 million and a decade of work. The couple, along with their two young children, Beau and Nash, moved into the mansion in November 2024. The project involved demolishing a 1960s four-bedroom cottage to build the expansive six-bedroom residence.

Durie, a celebrity gardener, described the home as 'innovative, sympathetic and responsive to the topography of the site.' The property features amenities such as a pool, a gym, and a media room. The process of designing and building the home was documented in Durie's show, 'Growing Home,' which focused on sustainable building practices.

Despite the aspirations for a sustainable dream home, the build faced challenges. In April 2022, Durie received approval from the Northern Beaches Council for his development application, but the project garnered over 50 objections from local residents. Durie acknowledged the stress the construction had caused his family, calling it the 'toughest project' he had ever undertaken. In 2023, Durie also purchased a 'hobby farm' in the Byron Bay hinterland for $3.6 million.
