James Acaster's Secret Girlfriend Revealed as Television Executive Hannah Rose
The comedian, who has become an unexpected heartthrob on 'Celebrity Traitors,' has been in a relationship with Hannah Rose since 2022.
James Acaster, the comedian who has gained a significant following for his charming and witty appearances on the BBC series 'Celebrity Traitors,' is reportedly in a long-term relationship with senior television executive Hannah Rose. Acaster, 41, has become an unexpected heartthrob, with viewers drawn to his "goofy charm and wit." His persona, described as "geeky, lanky and awkward," and his style, which often includes corduroy trousers and "grandad jumpers," have contributed to his growing popularity.
The couple has been together since 2022, according to a family member who spoke to the Daily Mail. "They've been together for a few years now. They are very happy together. They lead a fairly quiet life together," the source stated. Acaster has alluded to having a girlfriend on podcasts but has not publicly named her. The couple shares their home with four cats: Terry, Alex, Roo, and Spider-Man.
Acaster met Rose when she worked on his BBC podcast, "James Acaster's Perfect Sounds," which aired for two years starting in 2020. The podcast was created as a way for Acaster to reconnect with his passion for music following a previous breakup. He had previously been in a relationship with actor Louise Ford, who later left him for Rowan Atkinson.
Rose, 39, is a high-achieving executive within the television industry. She grew up in Worsley, Salford, and attended Urmston Grammar School before pursuing a degree in English Language and Literature at the University of York. She later completed a Master's degree in English Literary Studies. Rose has held positions at Channel 4 and ITV, and has also served on the judging panels for the Royal Television Society and British Podcast Awards. She began her career as a runner at ITV while studying and later became a production coordinator. After a period at the BBC and Channel 4, she returned to the BBC in 2018, working as an Assistant Commissioner for BBC Comedy. In this role, she collaborated with Acaster and other comedians. A BBC Director of Comedy Commissioning once praised her for "liv[ing] and breath[ing] comedy" and her "formidable experience on the live comedy scene."
Acaster has described their domestic life, which includes waking up with their cats, having breakfast together, and spending evenings watching films. He also recalled how he initially courted Rose by befriending her cat, Chicken, noting that "Chicken liked me straight away."
