James Acaster's Anxiety Halts Filming of 'The Celebrity Traitors'

Filming for the upcoming season of The Celebrity Traitors was temporarily halted after comedian James Acaster experienced significant anxiety and panic during an intense scene. The incident occurred at Ardross Castle, where Acaster became visibly stressed, prompting his co-stars to alert producers.

Producers agreed to pause filming to ensure Acaster's well-being, demonstrating a commitment to contestant safety. A source close to the production stated that the incident highlighted the show's intense nature and the solidarity among contestants. "Everyone looks out for each other and there is a proper sense of camaraderie. It was good for James to have a breather, as everyone felt it was for the best," the source told The Sun.

A spokesperson for the show emphasized that contestant safety and welfare are paramount. "The Traitors is a unique and immersive game, and we recognise that taking part can be intense at times. Our highest priority is always the safety and welfare of everyone taking part. Players are closely monitored and supported throughout by production, which includes a dedicated and experienced welfare team."

The incident reportedly did not affect the outcome of the game but underscored the emotional investment of the participants. Acaster is one of several comedians in the cast, a fact he acknowledged as a potential concern, noting that comedian Alan Carr's win in the previous series might lead to increased scrutiny of comedians in this season. He also humorously pointed out that mathematician Hannah Fry might use probability to suggest comedians are more likely to be chosen as Traitors.

The new season features a diverse cast, including Maya Jama, James Blunt, Miranda Hart, Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Michael Sheen, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney. James Blunt shared that his wife signed him up for the show, leading him to quickly watch the previous season to prepare.
