James Acaster Becomes Unexpected Sex Symbol on Celebrity Traitors

James Acaster, a contestant on Celebrity Traitors, has become an unexpected 'accidental sex symbol' due to fan-made edits of his time on the show, he revealed Friday. The comedian, 41, was recruited by hosts Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant for the series, which features contestants trying to identify the hidden traitors among them.

Acaster shared that his co-star Sebastian Croft first alerted him to his popularity by sending him screenshots of fan edits. "Look at this, teenagers fancy you," Croft reportedly told Acaster, who responded, "That's not exciting Bash!"

During an appearance on Ireland's The Late Late Show, Acaster discussed his surprise at the fan reception. "So I'm not on social media but Bash, who is also on Traitors, started texting me screengrabs... he was very giddy about everything," Acaster recounted. He joked about one fan edit, saying, "I was rather that's how they edited Traitors, that's much better!"

The recent episode of Celebrity Traitors featured the banishment of Joe Lycett. Lycett was expelled from the castle after his attempts to be recruited as a traitor made him a prime suspect among the Faithfuls. His departure followed a misstep where he inadvertently revealed his strategic thinking about potential recruitments, leading to confusion and ultimately his vote-off.

Despite Lycett's exit, fellow contestant Miranda Hart expressed her reluctance to vote for him, citing an emotional attachment formed with the group, whom Lycett referred to as a "family."

Meanwhile, Acaster remains a Faithful, with the latest episode concluding on a cliffhanger where Acaster, Jama, and King Kenny were tasked with a murder. The identity of their victim among the Faithfuls, Jerry Hall or Ross Kemp, was left unresolved.
