Influencer Nara Smith announced Friday that her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, has entered remission after a cancer diagnosis.
In an Instagram video, Smith, alongside her husband, musician Lucky Blue Smith, expressed thanks for the outpouring of support during their daughter's treatment. "I just wanted to come on here and say thank you so, so much for all your kind messages, prayers, support. It truly has meant so, so much to us," she said.
Smith, 24, shared that she and her husband had been debating whether to disclose such a private matter but decided to share their journey now that Whimsy is in remission. She hopes their experience will shed light on the struggles faced by many families battling cancer privately.
"Going through chemo treatments opened [her] eyes to how expensive medical care is and what a toll it takes on families, specifically," Smith stated. She plans to share resources to help families navigating similar situations.
The couple is working to return to a sense of normalcy. "I don’t know whether life will ever feel normal again. But we’re trying to navigate this next chapter the best that we can," Smith added, sending love to families still actively fighting cancer.
Nara Smith had previously announced Whimsy Lou's diagnosis earlier in July, stating the cancer was detected late last year. She described a concerning visit to the emergency room after noticing something suspicious, followed by pediatrician and children's hospital consultations. "My heart dropped in that moment," she recalled. "I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was, ‘She has cancer.'"
Following X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy, the family received the cancer diagnosis, learning that it had spread and immediate chemotherapy treatment was necessary. Smith noted that processing the diagnosis and treatment as a family had been difficult.
She encouraged followers to seek medical attention for any concerning health issues, saying, "We wanted to share this to … even incentivize you to go get something checked out that you’ve been avoiding."
In the weeks following the diagnosis announcement, Smith shared updates, including a photo of Whimsy with gems on her head, calling her a "little warrior girl," and another showing the child's shorn curls. On July 7, she posted that Whimsy was regrowing her hair after chemotherapy.
"If sharing these pieces of our story helps even one family feel less alone, or encourages one person to learn more about childhood cancer, then this vulnerable part of our lives is worth opening," Smith wrote. "Today her curls are returning."
Nara and Lucky Blue Smith are parents to four children: Rumble Honey, 5; Slim Easy, 4; Whimsy Lou, 2; and Fawnie Golden, born in late 2025. Lucky Blue Smith also has an older daughter, Gravity, 8, from a previous relationship.
