The distinctive newspaper print dress, first immortalized by Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in "Sex and the City," is experiencing a notable revival, with several public figures recently donning variations of the iconic design. The dress, a creation of John Galliano for Dior, first appeared on the runway in the late 1990s and has since become a significant piece in fashion history.

The original design featured prominently in "Sex and the City" during a memorable scene where Bradshaw confronts Natasha, the wife of Mr. Big. More than two decades after its television debut, the dress remains a powerful fashion statement.

Recent sightings include art historian Alexandra Leclerc, who wore the dress while attending the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. Leclerc paired the Galliano creation with contemporary accessories, including Dolce & Gabbana mules, Miu Miu sunglasses, and a Lady Dior bag.

Actress Jenna Ortega also paid homage to the "Sex and the City" look, wearing the dress at the premiere of "Hurry Up Tomorrow" in 2025. Ortega styled the cowl-neck design with gold stiletto sandals and subtle jewelry, complementing her signature smoky eye makeup. Jenna Ortega wearing the newspaper print dress at a premiere

Brad Pitt's girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, was also seen in a Galliano-era Dior newspaper print design at the US Open. While similar to Parker's dress, Ramon's featured a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps.

Galliano's original newspaper motif was introduced during his controversial Spring 2000 Haute Couture collection. The designs incorporated press clippings, including reviews of his own work. The collection, titled "Hobo," drew inspiration from urban homelessness and 1920s-30s fashion trends. The collection faced criticism for its portrayal of homelessness, leading Galliano to issue an apology.

He later refined the concept for Dior's Autumn/Winter ready-to-wear collection, creating a fictional newspaper, "The Christian Dior Daily," which formed the basis for several garments, including the now-famous Look 34 asymmetrical, bias-cut silk dress.

Other notable figures seen in newspaper print designs include model Emily Ratajkowski in September 2022 and Ashley Graham in July 2023. A guest was also observed wearing a similar printed dress during Milan Fashion Week in February 2026. A guest wearing a newspaper print dress at Milan Fashion Week

From its origins in high fashion and television to its recent appearances on celebrities and at major sporting events, Galliano's newspaper print dress continues to demonstrate its enduring appeal and status as a fashion icon.
