Ian McEwan to Release First Full-Length Nonfiction Work
The collection, titled 'Between Books,' will feature essays and speeches spanning his career.
Acclaimed novelist Ian McEwan is set to release his first full-length work of nonfiction, a collection of essays and speeches titled "Between Books." The book is scheduled for publication on May 25 by Alfred A. Knopf.
"Between Books" will encompass a range of writings, from personal recollections to intellectual inquiries, with McEwan contributing a new introduction. The collection includes both previously published and unpublished material.
According to Knopf, the book offers "an intimate record of a great mind wrestling with the contours of his own life and all the themes and questions that inform his masterworks: the nature of truth and love, the human hunger for meaning and knowledge, the mysteries of the soul."
McEwan, 78, described the collection as an "emotional and intellectual journey" that evolved from a "ragbag of disparate pieces." He is known for novels such as "Atonement," "The Innocent," and the Booker Prize-winning "Amsterdam." In 2019, he published a brief nonfiction work titled "Science."
