Hear'Say Reunite 20 Years After Split, Myleene Klass Declines Invitation
The 'Popstars' winners will return as a quartet, with Myleene Klass citing scheduling conflicts.
The British pop group Hear'Say, formed on the reality television show "Popstars" in 2001, has announced plans for a reunion over two decades after their initial breakup in 2002. The reunion will feature four of the original five members: Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, Danny Foster, and Noel Sullivan.
Myleene Klass, the fifth member, has stated she will not be participating due to existing commitments. "I loved my time in Hear'say," Klass said on an episode of the talk show "Loose Women" in July. "It's not something I can commit to right at this moment. But you go and, you know, I'll be front row – singing Pure And Simple!"
She also expressed doubt about replicating the band's original appeal, adding, "Generally speaking, I think it's very hard to replicate the feeling of the first time."
The announcement came via a new Instagram page for the band, @hearsay, which shared a screen recording of a WhatsApp conversation between Marsh, Shaw, Foster, and Sullivan. In the chat, Foster commented on the positive response to a "tour clip" they had posted. Shaw reminisced about the band's history, noting that "25 years ago" had passed since their formation. Sullivan then proposed the idea of reuniting, to which Marsh responded affirmatively.
The Instagram post's caption, "25 years later...", encouraged fans to sign up for a newsletter promising "up and coming news" and "presale" information, strongly suggesting a tour is in the works. The timing of the post, released 24 years to the day after Hear'Say announced their separation, adds a layer of significance to the announcement. The band, which achieved significant success following their "Popstars" win, disbanded after just two years.
