Hayden Panettiere, known for her roles in "Heroes" and "Nashville," died at age 36, her father confirmed to ABC News on Sunday. The circumstances and cause of her death have not yet been released.
Just weeks before her passing, Panettiere shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram on July 27, appearing joyful with photographer Randall Slavin. She captioned the post, "Good times and good friends @randallslavin ✨."
Slavin paid tribute to Panettiere on his Instagram Story, reposting the same photograph with the message, "Peace be with you, H."
Fans flooded Panettiere's final post with messages of shock and grief. Many expressed disbelief, while others shared memories of her career, including her role in the 2006 movie "Bring It On: All or Nothing."
In May, Panettiere released her memoir, "This Is Me: A Reckoning," in which she detailed her struggles with alcohol and opioid addiction, postpartum depression, domestic abuse, trauma, and loss. She had also recently experienced the death of her younger brother, Jansen, in February 2023.
Panettiere returned to acting in 2022 after a four-year hiatus. She reprised her role as Kirby Reed in "Scream VI" in 2023 and also appeared in "Amber Alert," "A Breed Apart," and "Sleepwalker."
Shortly before her death, Panettiere canceled a planned appearance at Creep IE Con, citing a "private family matter concerning the health of an elderly relative."
