Hannah Waddingham, known for her role as Rebecca Welton in the Apple series "Ted Lasso," is set to star as the lead in Emma Thompson's forthcoming West End stage adaptation of "Nanny McPhee," according to sources speaking with Page Six.

The adaptation of the 2005 film, penned by Thompson, is scheduled to begin performances in November 2027 at London's Aldwych Theatre. Thompson also co-wrote the show's lyrics with singer-songwriter Gary Clark, who composed the music.

Waddingham's casting aligns with her extensive theater background, including previous West End roles in productions such as "Into the Woods," "Spamalot," and "A Little Night Music." Her musical talents have also been showcased in "Ted Lasso," where she has performed several musical numbers.

In a past interview, Waddingham credited her "Ted Lasso" co-star Jason Sudeikis and the show's writing team for the musical moments on the series, noting their shared enthusiasm for musical theater. Sudeikis, along with Brendan Hunt and Brett Goldstein, were described as significant fans of the genre.
