Granddaughter Directs Documentary on Sir Sean Connery's Life
French filmmaker Stephanie Renouvin is creating a film titled 'Sean Connery: The Untold Story' using family archives.
The life of actor Sir Sean Connery is the subject of a new documentary being produced by his granddaughter, French filmmaker Stephanie Renouvin. Titled "Sean Connery: The Untold Story," the film will draw on footage from the James Bond star's personal family archive.
Renouvin previously directed "Madame Sean Connery," a film that explored the life of her grandmother, Micheline Roquebrune, Connery's wife.
The production company CAPA, based in Paris, announced the project. Sally Blake, deputy director at CAPA, told entertainment website Deadline that Connery has universal appeal, while Renouvin's familial connection provides a strong anchor for the film in France.
Renouvin, who referred to Sir Sean as "grandpa," incorporated clips of the Oscar-winning actor expressing his affection for his wife in her earlier documentary. Last month, the Sean Connery Foundation, established by his family with funds from his estate, announced plans to open a film institute in his native Edinburgh.
