Ghost Hunter Claims "Strictly Come Dancing" Set Is Haunted

Ghost hunter Yvette Fielding has claimed that the dressing rooms used for the BBC's "Strictly Come Dancing" are haunted. The popular dance competition, currently in its latest season, is filmed at Elstree Studios in London, a location that also hosts other productions such as "EastEnders" and "The Chase."

Fielding stated in an interview with the Daily Mail that "Strictly" has "quite a few ghosts." She explained that "anywhere that has a history, or even the land that the building or property is on, can be, in the right conditions, cause paranormal activity to happen." She added that individuals who have worked on the show have reported unexplained phenomena, including dressing room items being moved.

Fielding, who co-created and hosts the paranormal reality series "Most Haunted," expressed interest in investigating the Elstree Studios herself. She noted that "anywhere where people are, anywhere where you meet electricity, we emit energy," which could contribute to paranormal activity.

Throughout her career, Fielding has hosted numerous celebrities on "Most Haunted." She recalled an experience with the group Girls Aloud in 2006, where some members were initially skeptical but later became frightened by the events. She mentioned that one member had to leave the investigation and sit with a psychologist due to being intensely disturbed.

Fielding also fondly remembered the late actor and television personality Paul O'Grady, who appeared on "Most Haunted" events. She described him as a "huge supporter" of the show and a "wonderful, lovely friend" who encouraged her when she received negative comments about the program.

Separately, Fielding has been involved in a Halloween campaign for Smart Energy GB, a non-profit organization focused on smart meters. She investigated energy drains affecting small businesses, visiting a London bookshop to identify common culprits that increase utility bills. A poll conducted for the campaign found that 80% of small business owners feel "haunted" by invisible energy consumption that drives up their costs, with fewer than 20% knowing exactly how much energy is being used after hours.

Fielding, a former small business owner herself, emphasized the importance of monitoring running costs and identifying areas where energy is being used unnecessarily. She suggested that smart meters can help businesses pinpoint these "energy ghouls" and potentially save money. Victoria Bacon, a director at Smart Energy GB, added that smart meters provide visibility into energy usage patterns, helping business owners manage costs and receive accurate billing for better budgeting.
