Frances Bean Cobain Returns to Red Carpet After Eight-Year Hiatus

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and musician Courtney Love, has made a return to the red carpet after an eight-year absence. Cobain, 34, attended the Los Angeles premiere of the crime comedy "The Deputy" on Tuesday evening.

She was accompanied by her husband, Riley Hawk, son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk. Cobain had largely withdrawn from public red carpet events following 2018. In that year, she appeared with her mother at the launch of the Los Angeles boutique Other Peoples Children. Later in 2018, she was seen at a Moschino x H&M runway show during New York Fashion Week alongside Paris Jackson.

Cobain's return comes as a renewed mystery surrounds her father's 1994 death. For her appearance, she wore a graphic t-shirt that evoked the style of her parents' 1990s heyday. She had stepped away from public events after a Moschino show in June 2019.

Cobain and Hawk began their relationship in 2021 and married in a private ceremony in the San Diego area two years later. The ceremony was officiated by Michael Stipe, the frontman of R.E.M. and a close friend of Kurt Cobain. Stipe had written the song "Let Me In" following Kurt Cobain's death.

Kurt Cobain died by suicide in April 1994 in Seattle, following a period of depression and struggles with heroin addiction. Frances Bean Cobain was nearly two years old at the time of her father's death. She and Riley Hawk welcomed a son, Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk, in September 2024.
