Filming Paused on 'The Celebrity Traitors' After James Acaster's Anxiety Attack

Filming for the upcoming season of The Celebrity Traitors was temporarily halted after comedian James Acaster experienced significant anxiety and panic during an intense scene. The incident occurred at Ardross Castle, where Acaster, 41, became visibly stressed, prompting fellow contestants to alert producers.
Production staff agreed to pause filming to ensure Acaster's well-being. A source described the situation as a moment where "everyone looks out for each other and there is a proper sense of camaraderie." The break allowed Acaster to calm down, and the producers deemed it "for the best."
Despite the interruption, the incident did not affect the outcome of the game, but it highlighted the high-pressure environment on set. A spokesperson for the show emphasized that contestant safety and welfare are paramount. "Our highest priority is always the safety and welfare of everyone taking part," the representative stated. "Players are closely monitored and supported throughout by production, which includes a dedicated and experienced welfare team."
The new series features a cast including Maya Jama, James Blunt, and Miranda Hart. Acaster, who has expressed concerns about comedians being targeted due to previous success on the show, noted the inherent intensity of the game. He joked that mathematician Hannah Fry might use probability to suggest a comedian would be chosen as a Traitor.
James Blunt, also a contestant, revealed he was signed up for the show by his wife and had to "speed watch" the previous season. He expressed admiration for rugby player Joe Marler's performance in the last series.
The second season of The Celebrity Traitors includes a diverse cast of personalities from various fields, including actors, musicians, broadcasters, and comedians. Among the contestants are Michael Sheen, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney.
