Feathers Take Flight at London Fashion Week Shows
Erdem's whimsical designs and Mulberry's oversized bags highlight emerging trends.
London Fashion Week saw a playful embrace of feathers and oversized accessories on Sunday, with designers Erdem and Mulberry presenting their Spring/Summer 2027 collections.
At the Erdem show, dramatic marabou feather embellishments adorned footwear and spilled from the sleeves of silk dressing gowns. Ostrich feathers added volume and structure to dresses with a 1920s influence. Actresses Hayley Atwell and Felicity Jones were among the attendees sporting the eye-catching feather slippers, with Lashana Lynch and Ruth Wilson also seen in similar flighty footwear.
Designer Erdem Moralioglu, known for his romantic and whimsical creations, offset masculine tailoring with hyper-feminine gowns. The show drew notable guests including Marisa Abela.
Later, Mulberry showcased its latest offerings under new designer Christopher Kane, with a focus on supersized bags. The brand's popular Bayswater bag was reimagined in oversized versions in silver and dark brown. Kane also introduced a new top-handle style called the Stevie, available in various berry shades with gold hardware.
Mulberry's collection also featured outerwear with exaggerated funnel hoods and coats adorned with checks from the brand's archive. Leather pieces, including tank dresses and miniskirts, were also highlighted. TV presenter Cat Deeley and model Jodie Kidd were among the celebrities attending the Mulberry show.
