Emma Corrin Discusses Nonbinary Identity and Relationship with Zachary Hart

Emma Corrin has spoken about the challenges of being nonbinary and the societal tendency to categorize individuals. In a recent interview coinciding with a photoshoot for Harper's Bazaar UK, Corrin shared insights into their experiences.

"I think people always want answers because they feel there is security in certainty," Corrin stated. "So they want to put you in a box. But I think we all do that to some extent."

Corrin, who publicly came out as queer in 2021 and later updated their pronouns to they/them in the summer of 2022, noted a shift in their personal outlook as they entered their thirties.

"I think you're figuring out who you are in your twenties; you're charging through and making mistakes, but you're up for the chaos and the ride of it... Now I've landed in my thirties, I feel much more certain about who I want to be, who I am," they explained. "Well, not that it's done… I think it's lovely to be always questioning."

Corrin also offered a rare glimpse into their romantic relationship with actor Zachary Hart, whom they began dating in 2025. They described Hart as "the one" and emphasized the qualities they value in a partner.

"Their mind. Someone you belly-laugh with, who is constantly curious and evolving with you," Corrin said of their partner. "He challenges me all the time."

The couple met in early 2025 while working on a production of Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull," a relationship that followed Corrin's split from actor Rami Malek in April 2025 after two years together.

Corrin is currently promoting Dolly Alderton's new Netflix adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice," in which they star as Elizabeth Bennet. This version marks the 17th screen adaptation of Jane Austen's novel and is set to premiere in December.

Discussing the iconic role, Corrin expressed a connection with the character's wit and self-awareness.

"Lizzy's not afraid to face the world and to laugh at herself – I think I share that with her. I'm very interested in people, and I'm ready to laugh at stuff," they said. Corrin also shared their approach to acting and avoiding reviews to maintain focus on their performance.

The avant garde accompanying shoot featured a series of striking shots with Emma's edgy sheared hairdo highlighting their striking looks

Filming for the adaptation, which began in July 2025 and concluded in December, fostered a strong bond among the cast. Director Dolly Alderton revealed that Corrin, Olivia Colman, and the actresses playing the Bennet sisters share a WhatsApp group.

The November issue of Harper's Bazaar UK is available from October 8.
