Emily Ratajkowski made a subtle yet clear acknowledgment of her relationship with filmmaker Romain Gavras during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. The model attended the event, sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses on Instagram, including details that highlighted her connection to Gavras.
A close-up photo from Ratajkowski's Instagram carousel revealed her manicure, with one nail appearing to feature the initials "RG," matching those of Gavras. Further emphasizing the connection, her VMA guest pass was notably labeled "Romain Plus One."
Ratajkowski captioned her Instagram post, "went to the VMAs as a @romaingavras @surkin @yunglean2001 groupie and had the best time." Gavras was recognized at the ceremony for his directorial work on GENER8ION's "STORM," which featured Yung Lean. The video was nominated for Video of the Year and earned Gavras a nomination for Best Direction.

Gavras, a French filmmaker, is known for directing music videos such as M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls" and Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild." His filmography includes the 2022 drama "Athena." He is the son of filmmaker Costa-Gavras. Gavras previously dated singer Dua Lipa in 2023.
