Dolly Parton's Used Makeup Items Up for Auction
Fans can bid on a powder compact and puff, along with other items, used by the iconic singer.
A powder compact and puff that Dolly Parton used on her face for her "Home" music video are among the items currently up for auction through Julien's Auction House. The auction house, which specializes in arts and entertainment memorabilia, has listed the makeup items, with starting bids for the compact and puff at $25. The current bid has reached $400.
The items come from the collection of Anna Webb, a Nashville-based set dresser who worked on the "Home" music video, which was filmed in 2014. Webb recalled the shoot as a significant experience, noting a shared moment with Parton while singing in the set mirror.
While the brand of the compact is not specified, Parton was known to favor Maybelline and Max Factor products. In addition to the powder compact and puff, other items from the "Home" music video shoot are also available for bidding. These include an e.l.f. Cosmetics bronzing makeup brush used on Parton, the mirrored vanity and stool from the set, and a collection of makeup items used as props.
Parton, who passed away at age 80, was known for her distinctive glamorous style. She once humorously remarked, "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap." She also shared anecdotes about her makeup routine, including a practice of keeping her makeup on overnight, citing preparedness for unforeseen events. In a 2021 interview with WSJ Magazine, Parton stated she would remove her makeup upon waking and reapply it for the day. She also described applying makeup in unconventional locations during her early career, such as the backseat of a car.
Other memorabilia from Parton has also seen significant interest in auctions. Earlier this year, a jumpsuit she wore on "Hee Haw" in 1975 sold for $19,500. A smashed electric guitar signed by Parton is also among the items currently up for auction at Julien's.
