Diva Moments and Disruptions Mark 2026 Fashion Weeks
Celebrities and industry figures engaged in notable clashes and controversies during events in New York, Paris, and London.
Fashion weeks in New York, Paris, and London in 2026 have been punctuated by a series of notable incidents, ranging from perceived slights by celebrities to disruptive protests and confrontations.
Zendaya and Brigitte Macron Exchange
During Paris Fashion Week, actress Zendaya faced criticism for remaining seated when Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, approached her at the Louis Vuitton show. Video footage showed Zendaya engaged in conversation before greeting Macron with a smile while still seated. The incident sparked online debate, with some arguing for basic courtesy and others defending the actress.
It was also noted that Zendaya did not stand when Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, greeted her prior to Macron's arrival.
Jennifer Lopez and the Umbrella Incident
At the Stella McCartney show during Paris Fashion Week, Jennifer Lopez reportedly became frustrated when asked to lower her umbrella during an outdoor event. As rain fell, staff requested guests close their umbrellas. Lopez was seen initially keeping hers up, with her bodyguard holding it for her, before eventually complying with the request. Earlier, she was observed to be dismayed by a wet seat and had her bodyguard dry it before she sat down.
Jacob Elordi Confronts Paparazzi
Paris Fashion Week also saw actor Jacob Elordi confront paparazzi during a private outing with girlfriend Kendall Jenner. As the couple walked through the city after Jenner's appearance at the L'Oréal show, Elordi expressed his displeasure at the photographers. He requested they stop taking pictures and allow them to walk home undisturbed, at one point pleading for them to cease flashing their cameras.
Rihanna and EJ Johnson Exchange
A verbal exchange occurred between singer Rihanna and EJ Johnson following the Dior runway show in Paris. Johnson, commenting on social media, noted that the show started late due to Rihanna's tardiness. Rihanna later responded to Johnson's remarks online with a brief comment.
Steven Kolb Restrains Protesters
During New York Fashion Week in September, fashion executive Steven Kolb intervened physically during a runway show for the COS fall-winter 2026 collection. Protesters from PETA disrupted the event, and Kolb was seen restraining two activists, covering one's mouth and pushing another. Models continued the show amidst the disturbance. Kolb later apologized for his reaction, stating he should have allowed security to handle the situation, and subsequently resigned from his position as chief executive and president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America after two decades.
