Diane von Furstenberg, the 79-year-old fashion icon, shared a candid glimpse into her preparations for New York Fashion Week, posting a "no filter" selfie on Instagram. In the image, von Furstenberg is seen in a black one-piece swimsuit and a white sheet mask, accessorized with colorful bracelets.
"Getting ready for NY Fashion week!" she captioned the photo. "79 and no filter! OWN IT 🙏👍🙏."
The designer, who launched her eponymous label in 1972, has been a vocal proponent of embracing aging naturally. She previously shared her stance against plastic surgery, particularly after breaking her nose in a skiing accident in 2017. At the time, she told The NY Daily News, "If I ever had any desire to have plastic surgery, after this week, I know for sure, I would not want it. I was so terrified that I would lose my old face."
Von Furstenberg's philosophy of "owning it" extends to all aspects of her life. Last year, after falling and sustaining a black eye upon arrival in Los Angeles, she shared photos of the injury on social media, writing, "I am owning it, applying lots of arnica gel and happy it was not worse!!" She added, "Owning it is the secret of survival!"
Her sentiment was echoed by celebrities in the comments, with Andy Cohen remarking, "Own it," and Jenna Lyons adding, "🔥❤️🔥❤️LEGEND."
Von Furstenberg's collection is scheduled to be shown on the runway on Thursday.
