Designer Prepares for 'Claudia Winkleman Effect' as 'Celebrity Traitors' Outfits Gain Popularity
Scottish designer Judy R. Clark anticipates a surge in demand for her creations worn by the presenter on the hit BBC show.
Scottish designer Judy R. Clark is anticipating a significant increase in demand for her clothing line, driven by the popularity of presenter Claudia Winkleman's distinctive style on the BBC program "Celebrity Traitors." Winkleman's signature blend of tartan, chunky knits, tweed capes, and fingerless gloves has captured the attention of viewers, with a recent episode featuring Clark's designs drawing nine million viewers.
Clark has been working with Winkleman's stylist, Sinead McKeefry, to incorporate her pieces into the presenter's on-screen wardrobe. Among the notable items were a charcoal knitted tank-top and a puff-sleeved jumper, which were delivered to the show under strict secrecy until their on-air debut. "To see my work worn by Claudia feels like an iconic moment," Clark stated, emphasizing Winkleman's unique fashion sense and confidence, which she believes resonates with the audience.
More of Clark's designs are slated to appear throughout the "Celebrity Traitors" series, with Winkleman encouraging viewers to watch for additional "big fashion moments." The Edinburgh-based designer expressed her privilege in contributing to the popular television program and collaborating with McKeefry. The styling aims to showcase British designers while complementing the show's vintage and gothic aesthetic, filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
Clark has a history of dressing notable musicians, including Courtney Love, Annie Lennox, and KT Tunstall. This season of "The Celebrity Traitors," which premiered on October 1, has seen Winkleman continue to embrace her characteristic Highlands-inspired attire. Early in the season, she was seen in promotional photos wearing vintage Vivienne Westwood tartan trousers paired with a chocolate brown coat from Scottish brand SKYE by Brora, complemented by Bottega Veneta boots and her signature fingerless gloves.
In the second episode, Winkleman opted for another Scottish brand, a Barbour waxed jacket, styled with loose-fitting black trousers. Her "human crow meets golf caddie meets the Artful Dodger" style, as described by her long-time stylist, continues to feature tartan-inspired elements. In the previous year's series, Winkleman wore a Burberry check pleated skirt and a matching fringed sweater.
