Danny Dyer and Ray Winstone's 'Geezer Dad' Appearance Steals Spotlight on Strictly Come Dancing
The iconic British actors drew widespread fan reaction as they watched their daughters compete on the popular television show.
The latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing saw an unexpected audience draw as actors Danny Dyer and Ray Winstone were spotted sitting side-by-side in the front row. While the show's contestants embraced themed costumes, viewers at home were captivated by the presence of the two celebrated actors, affectionately dubbed 'geezer dads' online.
Dyer, 49, and Winstone, 69, known for their tough-guy screen personas, appeared in a supportive role as proud fathers to their daughters, Dani Dyer, 30, and Jaime Winstone, 41, respectively. The camera panned to the duo as the fourth week of the competition commenced, igniting a flurry of comments on social media platform X.
Fans expressed delight at the pairing, with many humorously noting the confluence of hard-man actors. Comments included sentiments like "Whoever made Danny Dyer and Ray Winstone sit together deserves a pay raise" and "Can’t get over Danny Dyer and Ray Winston sitting next to each other." One user amusingly suggested, "All you need is to add the Mitchell Brothers & Kray Twins to Ray Winstone & Danny Dyer to complete the gallery of East End hard men and the #SCD2026 live audience might spontaneously combust from all the testosterone flying in the ballroom."
Their presence also coincided with that of Paul Chuckle, 78, further adding to the notable audience members.
This appearance comes after Winstone playfully threatened to disrupt the show last month. During an appearance on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, he joked about fighting Dyer if Dani scored higher than his daughter Jaime. "Maybe we'll meet up and me and Danny, while we watch our two daughters, you know, do their thing. And me and Danny can have a fight in the audience. Which would be kind of nice. End Strictly for good," Winstone had said.
In the competition, Dani Dyer and her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin scored 25 points for their Rumba, placing them near the bottom of the leaderboard. In contrast, Jaime Winstone and her partner Carlos Gu secured joint top position with 34 points for their Paso Doble.
The results show for Strictly Come Dancing airs on Sundays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
