Dakota Johnson Surprises at VMAs for Taylor Swift's 'Patient Zero' Premiere

Dakota Johnson made a surprise appearance at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, stepping out in a blush sequined Calvin Klein Collection gown to introduce Taylor Swift and premiere the music video for Swift's song "Patient Zero." Johnson stars opposite Colin Farrell in the video, which debuted during the ceremony.
During the event, Johnson also presented Swift with the inaugural Artist Director Honors award, praising her as "a visionary, with a relentless drive for perfection in everything that she does."
This marked Johnson's first time attending the VMAs. She also spoke about her collaboration with Swift on the "Patient Zero" video, noting their long-standing friendship and effective working relationship. "Normally I would say ‘Don’t work with your friends,’ but we work really well together. It was so fun," Johnson said on the Fangirl Nation podcast.
The "Patient Zero" music video features Johnson and Swift in matching iridescent gowns, reflecting a minimalist aesthetic. The video premiered following Swift's acceptance speech.
Johnson's appearance comes amid her press tour for the upcoming psychological romance-thriller "Verity," also starring Anne Hathaway, which is set to be released on Oct. 2. Earlier in September, Johnson attended the London premiere of "Verity" in a sheer lace gown, accessorized with jewelry from CeCe Jewellery, a designer favored by Swift.
