Czech Football Coach Goes Viral for Avoiding Eye Contact During Interview
David Oulehla's intense focus during a post-match interview has sparked widespread online commentary.
A Czech football coach has become an internet sensation following a post-match interview where he appeared to meticulously avoid making eye contact with the reporter. David Oulehla, the coach of Czech second division team FK Viagem Ústí nad Labem, was interviewed last Friday after his team's 3-2 loss to SFC Opava.
During the interview with sports reporter Sabina Jákšová, Oulehla's determined effort to look away from her drew significant attention on social media. Online commenters noted his apparent focus, with reactions including "He's fighting for his life," "His level of self-control is biblical," and "His wife is watching... total respect for his eye control!"
Jákšová joined the second division club as a presenter at the end of the previous season. She stated that the club's management approached her directly with the offer, which surprised and pleased her. Although she had no prior experience, she learned on the job, describing her initial football knowledge as "rather basic to minimal." She added, "I like to learn something new, try new things and develop. At the same time, it's all very authentic. I'm learning how the club works as I go along."
In a separate incident last month, TNT Sports presenter Laura Woods was noted for an unintentional slip of the tongue during a live broadcast. While discussing Liverpool's victory over Atletico Madrid, she mistakenly referred to Virgil van Dijk as "Virgin... Virgil van Dijk," leading to audible laughter from her co-presenters, Steve McManaman and Michael Owen.
