Crystal Lake Season 2 Renewal Remains Undecided by Peacock

Peacock has not yet officially renewed the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake for a second season. The show, which explores the origins of Pamela Voorhees and her son Jason, was initially marketed as a limited series.

However, creator Brad Caleb Kane has expressed interest in continuing the story, telling Deadline that he has concepts for a second season. Kane envisions a future season that could adopt a more "Twin Peaks-y" tone, expanding the narrative focus to encompass the broader cast of Crystal Lake residents, such as Crazy Ralph, Officer Dorf, and Trudy. He emphasized that while these peripheral characters are of interest, Pamela and Jason would remain central to the storyline.

Kane also indicated that if the series continues for multiple seasons, it could eventually approach the events of the first Friday the 13th film, though this is not anticipated for a potential second season. The first season finale concludes with a scene of campers sharing stories about Jason in the woods, accompanied by the franchise's signature musical cue, suggesting that Jason Voorhees' legend is far from over.

The first season of Crystal Lake comprises eight episodes and is currently available for streaming exclusively on Peacock. The platform offers two subscription tiers: Peacock Premium, which includes advertisements, and Peacock Premium Plus, an ad-free option. Peacock Premium costs $12.99 per month or $129.99 annually, while Peacock Premium Plus is priced at $19.99 per month or $199.99 annually. Annual subscriptions offer a discount equivalent to two months free. Peacock Premium Plus can also be accessed through Amazon Prime Video with a seven-day free trial.
