Coronation Street's Shona Platt to Confront Sister Jodie Over Husband David

Coronation Street is set to feature a dramatic love triangle as Shona Platt's sister, Jodie, makes a move on Shona's husband, David.

Since her arrival in Weatherfield earlier this year, Jodie has been intent on disrupting Shona's domestic life. The upcoming storyline intensifies these tensions, with Jodie shamelessly pursuing David. A teaser trailer shows Jodie telling David that he "deserves someone that will treat you right." The conflict culminates in a confrontation between the two sisters, with Shona issuing an ultimatum for Jodie to stay away from David.

Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, described her character's fixation, stating, "Jodie has convinced herself that David symbolises her potential for future happiness. She's lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs." Brown added that "When pushed, you just don't know what Jodie's capable of. She has a lot of dark secrets and has a genuinely sinister side to her."

The dramatic developments come as Coronation Street recently achieved significant success at the Inside Soap Awards, securing eight accolades. The series won Best Soap for the third consecutive year, alongside awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Storyline, Best Partnership, Best Villain, Best Exit, and Best Young Performer. The storyline involving Todd's abuse by his partner Theo was recognized for Best Storyline, and James Cartwright, who played Theo Silverton, received the Best Villain award.

In other award-winning performances, Vicky Myers was named Best Actress for her role as Lisa Connor-Swain, and Alison King won Best Partnership for her portrayal of Carla Connor-Swain and Lisa's relationship. Inside Soap editor Sarah Ellis commented on the emotional impact of the year's storylines, noting that they allow actors to deliver powerful performances that resonate with viewers, as indicated by the record number of votes received.
