Sean Wilson, the 61-year-old actor celebrated for his portrayal of Martin Platt in the ITV soap Coronation Street, has married his partner Carol. The couple exchanged vows over the weekend in a countryside ceremony.

Wilson, who played Martin Platt from 1985 to 2005 and made a brief return in 2018, shared photos of the nuptials on Facebook. In the images, Wilson is seen wearing a dark blue suit with an orange waistcoat, while his bride donned a white wedding dress. The couple shared a kiss outside a church, with Carol holding a bouquet of sunflowers, white flowers, greenery, and blue accents. Another photograph captured the newlyweds in the back of a vintage cream car.

Wilson described the event in a social media post: "Guess what we did this weekend… a July wedding. Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson… We had a gospel choir, and a church full of legendary (real) friends… If we did it all again, it couldn't be better." Friends and fans extended congratulations in the comments section, with one writing, "Congratulations Mr + Mrs Wilson. Wishing you both many many years of happiness."

Wilson and Carol have been in a relationship since 2019. He was previously linked to actress Susie Fenwick.

In 2024, Wilson was slated to return to Coronation Street for his on-screen wife Gail Platt's departure. However, the storyline was reportedly scrapped due to an unfounded sex assault claim against him, and the plot was revised. Gail ultimately left Weatherfield for France with her new husband.

Wilson has since focused on a career in cheesemaking, launching his business Artisan Farm in 2009 and authoring recipe books. He had been a regular on Coronation Street from 1983 to 2013, with a brief cameo in 2018. He has largely maintained a low profile since his departure from the soap.
