Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala to Continue in 2027
The Recording Academy announced the continuation of the annual event following the music titan's death earlier this year.
The annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy gala will continue in 2027, the Recording Academy announced. The decision comes after the death of the influential music executive earlier this year.
Davis, who died in June at age 94, was instrumental in launching and revitalizing the careers of numerous artists, including Janis Joplin, Whitney Houston, Carlos Santana, and Alicia Keys. His pre-Grammy gala, held annually since 1975 on the Saturday before the Grammy Awards, has been a highly exclusive and celebrated event within the music industry, bringing together artists and industry figures across genres.
The first Clive Davis gala since his passing is scheduled for February 6, 2027, the night before the 69th annual Grammy Awards.
"Clive built this gala into something the entire music community looked forward to for five decades," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated. "He never did it for applause or recognition. He did it because he loved this community, believed in the power of music, and understood what it meant to bring us all together to celebrate it."
Mason added, "I was lucky to call Clive a friend and mentor, and working with him taught me so much. That’s exactly the spirit he brought to the Pre-Grammy Gala and I know he’d want nothing more than for the show to go on this year. It’s our honor to celebrate the legacy he left behind."
Further details regarding the 2027 gala are expected to be released later.
Previous iterations of the gala have featured performances from artists such as Clipse, John Legend, and Jennifer Hudson. The event has also drawn notable attendees including former President Barack Obama, Joni Mitchell, Nancy Pelosi, and Lana Del Rey.
