Claudia Winkleman's 'Noisy' Outfits and Jewelry Banned on The Traitors
The host revealed strict wardrobe rules for the show's tense 'Traitors pick' segment to avoid giving away clues.
Host Claudia Winkleman has revealed that BBC bosses enforce strict wardrobe rules for "The Traitors," particularly during the show's pivotal "Traitors pick" segment. To prevent any accidental giveaways, Winkleman is prohibited from wearing "jangly jewellery" or "noisy fabric" that could betray the game's secrets.
Executive producer Sarah Fay confirmed these restrictions, explaining that even the smallest sound could compromise the suspense of the selection process. Winkleman herself acknowledged this, admitting she avoids certain fabrics she perceives as noisy, despite being told by the production team that fabric doesn't actually make noise. "Yes, and there's some fabric that I think are noisy, even though I've been told fabric does not make a noise," she stated.
Beyond the fabric of her clothes, Winkleman also navigates other sartorial challenges on the show. She confessed to being hesitant about wearing certain types of footwear, opting instead for what she describes as "spiky, noisy, scary shoes." Her signature Saint Laurent boots, which retail for £975, have become a distinctive element of her on-screen persona. She previously described her purposeful walk around the table in these clompy shoes as an attempt to build tension, humorously comparing her gait to that of a "cart horse."
For the second series of "Celebrity Traitors," Winkleman's style was described by her as a blend of "Human Crow meets Golf Caddy meets the Artful Dodger." In promotional images, she is seen sporting bold tartan Vivienne Westwood trousers, a Brora coat, and chunky Dr. Martens boots, alongside her trademark fingerless gloves.
When asked if she would ever consider participating as a contestant, Winkleman quickly dismissed the idea, joking that she was "too thick." This self-deprecating remark contrasts with her academic background, having studied History of Art at Cambridge University.
The anticipation for the new series of "Celebrity Traitors" is high, with viewing parties being organized across the country. The show, which features celebrities such as Maya Jama, Miranda Hart, and James Blunt, offers a prize of up to £100,000 for a chosen charity. Last year's launch episode drew over six million viewers, and this year's series is set to premiere on October 1.
