Christy Turlington, 57, is featured in the latest autumn/winter advertising campaign for Armani, showcasing a natural aesthetic that embraces signs of aging. The images, photographed by Oliver Hadlee Pearch, depict Turlington in a grey tailored blazer, a grey leather trench coat, and a crushed green velvet suit. Notably, the campaign features minimal retouching, allowing Turlington's natural beauty, including laughter lines and greying temples, to be prominent.

This approach marks a departure from the often heavily airbrushed portrayals of perfection common in fashion media. Turlington, one of the most successful models of the 1990s, was known for her extensive magazine cover appearances and lucrative contracts with brands like Calvin Klein, Chanel, and Versace.

Turlington has largely maintained a lower profile, with a 23-year marriage to actor and filmmaker Edward Burns. She previously told Harper's Bazaar in 2020 that she has always favored a "less is more" philosophy.

The collection featured in the campaign is the first womenswear line designed by Silvana Armani, niece of the late Giorgio Armani, who took over creative direction after the designer's passing last September.

Turlington's casting aligns with a broader trend of older models being selected for prominent campaigns to connect with a midlife consumer base. Other notable examples include Claudia Schiffer, 56, as the face of Chloe, and Kate Moss, 52, who was recently announced as the new face of Gucci. This contrasts with some brands that continue to cast younger models, such as Moss's daughter Lila, 23, who fronts the Zadig & Voltaire campaign.
