Charlotte Crosby Undergoes Surgery Following Second Silent Miscarriage
The reality star shared the news from her hospital bed, expressing her heartbreak and uncertainty about the future.
Reality television personality Charlotte Crosby has undergone surgery after experiencing her second silent miscarriage. The 36-year-old shared a photo from her hospital bed on Friday, detailing the devastating loss.
Her fiancé, Jake Ankers, posted the image and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from followers. "Every comment, message and personal experience you've all shared with us about pregnancy and miscarriage has meant more than you'll ever know," Ankers wrote. "Your words have given us so much hope during such a difficult time and staying positive for what the future holds."
Ankers described the day as one of the "longest and hardest days of his life" as Crosby returned home. He added that the entire week had been "incredibly difficult, both physically and emotionally," acknowledging struggles in his personal and professional life.
Crosby had revealed the news of her silent miscarriage earlier on Friday. She explained that she had discovered she was pregnant last month, only to learn at her eight-week scan that she had miscarried. She and Ankers, who are parents to daughters Alba, three, and Pixi, 20 months, had been hoping to expand their family.
"It's no secret that we've been trying to grow our family, so you can imagine the overwhelming happiness we felt when we saw the positive test," Crosby stated in an Instagram post. "There are no words to describe how happy we were."
She described the pregnancy as coming with "mixed emotions and nerves" following a previous silent miscarriage earlier in the year. "The nerves were still there deep down, as they are with every pregnancy," she noted.
Recalling the moment of discovering the miscarriage, Crosby said, "It felt like someone had ripped our hearts out of our chests. We lost another baby, another silent miscarriage."
A silent miscarriage occurs when an individual does not experience typical symptoms of pregnancy loss, such as bleeding or cramping. Crosby expressed uncertainty about how they will move forward, stating, "I'm not sure where we can go from here and the future feels a little uncertain. We would absolutely love to grow our family, however the fear of feeling this heartbreak again is terrifying."
Crosby chose to share her experience, explaining, "I wanted to share this because this is my life, and this is our story. Sometimes sharing the hardest parts helps me carry them a little more easily. And if you're going through something similar, you're not alone."
Following her announcement, Crosby received numerous supportive messages from celebrity friends, including Paris Fury and Jacqueline Jossa.
This is not the first pregnancy complication Crosby has faced. In May, she underwent a D&C procedure following her first miscarriage, later developing an infection that caused severe pain. In 2016, she experienced an ectopic pregnancy, which nearly cost her life and resulted in the removal of her right fallopian tube and ovary.
