Charlotte Church's Wellness Retreat 'The Dreaming' to Pause Operations
The singer-songwriter's retreat will temporarily close from December to allow for reassessment and future planning.
Charlotte Church's wellness retreat, The Dreaming, located at Rhydoldog House near Rhayader in Powys, will pause operations beginning in December. The decision comes as the retreat seeks to "germinate new dreams for the future" and reassess its offerings in a changing world.
The retreat, which aimed to help guests reconnect with nature and spirituality, has hosted over 3,000 guests in the past five years. Church purchased the former home of fashion designer Laura Ashley in 2021, with its renovation later documented in a television series. The Dreaming officially opened its doors in 2023.
In a statement shared on social media, the retreat's team explained the need for a temporary closure. "Through the harvest season, it is important to discern what requires attention from that which is falling away, what needs to be put to compost," the statement read. "We need the chance to compost, mulch, go fallow, listen deeply to the earth, so that we can germinate new dreams for the future."
The team cited the evolving global landscape as a reason for the reassessment. "As we stare clear-eyed at the exponentially complexifying crises that have been spreading out ahead of us all like cracking ice, we at The Dreaming need to reassess, with candour and courage, what it is we should be offering to be in service," they added.
While a specific date for the retreat's return has not been announced, the statement concluded with a promise: "We cannot say when exactly we will be returning from the dream realm, but return we shall."
