Charli XCX Joins Scorsese's Upcoming Psychological Horror Film
The Grammy-winning artist is set to make a cameo appearance in "What Happens at Night," starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
Charli XCX is reportedly stepping further into the acting world with a cameo role in Martin Scorsese's forthcoming psychological horror film, "What Happens at Night." The film is set to feature an ensemble cast of acclaimed actors, including Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, as well as Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris.
The psychological horror narrative follows an American couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby, only for their experiences to become increasingly unsettling, leading them to question their relationship and identities. Details regarding Charli XCX's specific character remain under wraps.
This marks a notable expansion of the singer's acting career. Previously, Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, has undertaken voice roles in animated films like "The Angry Birds Movie" (2016) and "UglyDolls" (2019). She has also appeared in television, notably in the "Gossip Girl" reboot (2022), and has taken on more substantial live-action roles in projects such as "Erupcja," "100 Nights of Hero," and "Sacrifice." Her filmography is slated to grow further with roles in "The Moment," "Faces of Death," "I Want Your Sex," and "The Gallerist" in 2026.
The collaboration with Scorsese builds on a prior connection, as the director appeared on the cover of Charli XCX's "Music, Fashion, Film" project.
This acting endeavor comes as Charli XCX recently had to cancel a show in Glendale, Arizona, due to illness. The singer announced via Instagram Stories that she had lost her voice after battling sickness throughout her tour. Refunds were to be issued for the canceled date, though her show in Las Vegas was confirmed to proceed as planned. The "Music, Fashion, Film" tour is scheduled to conclude in Paris in February 2027.
