Channel Seven Restricts Social Media Comments for "My Kitchen Rules" Contestants Amidst Backlash

Channel Seven has implemented restrictions on social media comments for "My Kitchen Rules" contestants Jane and Shane, following a significant public backlash. The move comes after the Blue Mountains duo became perceived "villains" of the current season due to food stylist Jane's "snobby" remarks and the couple's perceived haughty demeanor towards other competitors.

Public opinion intensified after Jane and Shane presented a "cremated" and "mummified" pigeon dish to their fellow contestants on Monday night's episode. In response, the majority of Instagram posts featuring the couple now have their comment sections disabled, a decision not missed by critics.

"MKR turned the commenting off on their other Jane and Shane posts," observed one viewer on a post that still allowed comments. Another commenter noted, "Love how they turned the comments off" with a crying-laughing emoji.

Many viewers expressed satisfaction at the couple's perceived downfall, with one writing, "Is anyone else absolutely enjoying watching this all fall apart?" Another stated, "Best episode. Karma on a plate."

During the episode, Jane and Shane's masterstock pigeon dish left their co-stars feeling queasy. Jane had expressed confidence in the dish, telling producers, "It looks beautiful and refined on the plate. I feel this is going to be a 10." However, the cooking process proved challenging, and Jane admitted to fearing she had overcooked it, describing the pigeon as "super dry" and "mummified."

The couple attempted to salvage the dish by using a pressure cooker, but Jane later lamented, "The pressure cooker didn't do anything! The stupid bird is getting worse and worse. This is an absolute nightmare!"

Cast members were quick to criticize the meal. "This pigeon looks like it has been in the crematorium," one contestant remarked. Another added, "Pigeon is dry, dry, dry! I did not expect this from them."
