Celine Dion's Paris Comeback Earns Over $125 Million

Celine Dion's recent concert residency in Paris has achieved significant commercial success, grossing $125.5 million and selling 539,000 tickets, according to a report by Billboard.

The 58-year-old singer returned to the stage for a series of 16 shows at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, from September 12 to October 17, marking a powerful comeback after her 2022 diagnosis with stiff person syndrome. Her illness had previously led to the cancellation of her planned tour.

During her time away from the spotlight, Dion underwent treatment that enabled her to perform. Her comeback included an appearance during the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, where she sang Edith Piaf's "L'Hymne a l'amour." She later resumed full concerts, exceeding previous attendance records at the Plenitude Arena, which was formerly known as the Paris La Defense Arena.

More than 30,000 people attended her final concert in the recent run. Dion announced her intention to return to the venue for another 10 dates in May.

During her performances, Dion shared both her English and French repertoire, including hits like "My Heart Will Go On" and "S'il suffisait d'aimer." She expressed her gratitude to the audience, stating, "This beautiful adventure finishes tonight. But we'll meet again next May. In the meantime, believe in yourselves and hold on to your dreams!"

A documentary titled "I Am: Celine Dion" chronicled her struggle with stiff person syndrome, revealing the physical agony she experienced during episodes and her determination to sing again. The film highlighted how her sons had learned to use "panic buttons" during crisis drills at home.

Dion was accompanied by her twin sons, Nelson and Eddy, during her time in Paris. She was also seen with her eldest son, Rene-Charles, from her marriage to her late husband and manager, Rene Angelil, who passed away in 2016.
