Celine Dion Makes Surprise Runway Appearance at Paris Fashion Week
The singer, who has been battling Stiff Person Syndrome, performed and danced with models including Eva Longoria at the L'Oreal show.
Celine Dion made a surprise appearance on the runway at Paris Fashion Week on Monday, performing her hit song "I'm Alive" at the L'Oreal catwalk show and later joining other models on stage. The singer, 58, appeared to be in good spirits, dancing and interacting with attendees, including actress Eva Longoria.
Dion's appearance comes as she continues her recovery from Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms. The condition led her to cancel her tour in 2023. She is currently in Paris for a five-week residency.
The L'Oreal show, titled 'Express Your Worth,' featured a star-studded lineup that included models Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Heidi Klum, Simone Ashley, and Jane Fonda. Dion's performance marked a significant return to the public eye following her health battle. She had previously announced a commitment to return to singing, stating in December 2022 after her diagnosis that she would make her health journey "my reason for living."
In an emotional address during her comeback shows earlier this month, Dion spoke about the challenges of her rehabilitation. "I had promised myself not to cry. Here we are… I'm standing on stage in this city that I love so much, thanks to your support and your love," she said. "I have to admit, though, that the road was rocky. The journey was longer than expected, with unplanned stops along the way. But I hung in there."
She described her recovery as a process of "falling and getting back up repeatedly" and expressed pride in achieving what her body was not "born to do." Her rehabilitation program has included physical therapy, vocal therapy, and immunotherapy, alongside regular Pilates, ballet, and barre classes to build strength and flexibility.
Paris Fashion Week, which kicked off on Monday, is set to feature collections from designers including Victoria Beckham and Saint Laurent, with Louis Vuitton closing the event on October 6. Dion's residency includes 16 shows in autumn 2026 and an additional ten dates in May 2027.
