Celine Dion Honored with 'Heart of the Ocean' Barbie Amid Comeback Residency

Celine Dion has been immortalized in Barbie form with a new signature doll from Mattel, released amid her ongoing Paris residency. The figurine pays tribute to the navy, long-sleeved dress the Canadian singer wore when she performed "My Heart Will Go On" at the 1998 Academy Awards. The doll is adorned with a blue necklace inspired by the iconic "Heart of the Ocean" pendant from the 1997 film "Titanic."

In James Cameron's blockbuster, the "Heart of the Ocean" is a significant symbol, given by Cal Hockley to Rose DeWitt Bukater as an engagement gift. The necklace later becomes instrumental in framing Jack Dawson for theft. Dion's performance of the film's theme song at the 1998 Oscars, where she wore a replica of the jewel, cemented its place in both cinematic and fashion history.

"It is a true honour to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of my career," Dion stated. "I hope this doll inspires everyone to express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams and believe in the power of their own voice."

Dion joins a roster of esteemed artists, including Mariah Carey and Tina Turner, who have been honored with their own Barbie dolls. The release comes as Dion continues her comeback shows in Paris, following a hiatus due to her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).

In December 2022, Dion revealed her diagnosis with SPS, a rare neurological disorder causing muscle stiffness and spasms. The condition significantly impacted her ability to walk and perform. Despite the challenges, Dion has expressed a determination to return to the stage, a promise she began fulfilling with her comeback shows in the French capital.

During a recent Paris concert, Dion experienced emotional moments on stage, at times forgetting lyrics and losing her balance. However, she was supported by the audience and quickly regained her composure. Her current residency includes multiple shows scheduled through autumn 2026 and spring 2027. Dion has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation, including medication, physical therapy, and vocal training, and detailed her battle with SPS in her 2024 documentary, "I Am: Celine Dion."
