Celine Dion Greets Fans in Paris Amid Health Battle

Celine Dion, 58, greeted a large gathering of fans outside her hotel in Paris on Wednesday, appearing in good spirits as she prepares for her upcoming residency. The singer waved to the crowd and shook hands with admirers.

Dion is in the French capital for a five-week residency, marking her return to the stage after canceling the remainder of her Courage world tour in 2023. Last weekend, she shared that she has decided to make her health battle "my reason for living" during an emotional speech at the opening night of her Paris shows.

"I have to admit, though, that the road was rocky. The journey was longer than expected, with unplanned stops along the way. But I hung in there. A faint ray of light in the distance, deep in the mountains. I believed in it. And here it is. The sun – the sun is here. The sun, right in front of me," Dion said, addressing the audience. She added, "I have decided to make it my reason for living."

The singer revealed in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms. At its most severe, the condition has impacted her ability to walk and sing.

Dion's rehabilitation program has included physical therapy, vocal therapy, and immunotherapy. She has also engaged in 90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week, alongside twice-weekly ballet and barre classes, to build strength. Her home gym is equipped with weights, a treadmill, and a reformer machine, and she has noted increased flexibility from her new exercise regimen.

Reflecting on her journey, Dion described the process as "falling and getting back up repeatedly" and expressed pride in achieving what her body was not "born to do." She also noted that SPS is a progressive condition.

The current residency is scheduled to include 16 shows in the fall of 2026 and 10 additional dates in May 2027.
