Celine Dion Departs Paris After Successful Comeback Concert Residency
The legendary singer was seen with 29 suitcases as she concluded the initial leg of her return to the stage.
Celine Dion has bid farewell to Paris, concluding the first part of her highly anticipated comeback concert residency. The superstar was observed departing the Royal Monceau hotel, accompanied by her twin sons Eddy and Nelson, aged 15, and her pet poodle, Madison.
Hotel staff were seen loading approximately 29 suitcases into a van as Dion prepared for her departure. The singer, 58, was seen holding her small dog, Madison, tucked inside her coat, and sporting sunglasses.
Dion's final performance of the year took place on Saturday at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, a venue just outside Paris. The residency marked a significant return to regular performance following a hiatus due to her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome (SPS).
She publicly disclosed her SPS diagnosis in December 2022, a rare neurological condition affecting the central nervous system, which caused muscle stiffness, spasms, and mobility issues, impacting her ability to sing and perform. This led to the postponement and eventual cancellation of remaining dates on her Courage World Tour.
The Paris residency concluded an emotional period for the artist, with the initial run of shows later expanded due to high demand. The final concert saw over 30,000 fans in attendance, with Dion performing a repertoire of around 30 songs in both French and English.
During her final show, Dion expressed her gratitude and connection with the audience, stating in French that the five-week run had passed quickly and she already missed them. She promised to return, announcing, "This beautiful adventure finishes tonight. But we'll meet again next May. In the meantime, believe in yourselves and hold on to your dreams!" Further performances are scheduled for May 2027.
The concerts celebrated Dion's decades-long career, featuring hits such as "My Heart Will Go On," "The Power of Love," and "Because You Loved Me," alongside French classics like "Pour que tu m'aimes encore." The production included musical director Scott Price, a full band, a string quartet, and a 16-member choir.
The run of shows at the Plenitude Arena has reportedly seen Dion sell more tickets than any other artist in the venue's history. Her comeback single, "Bonjour, Pardon, Merci," was performed as the closing number of the two-hour show.
