Celine Dion Dazzles in Paris Comeback Residency, Celebrates Iconic Fashion Moments
The Canadian superstar honored her past style with reimagined gowns and a new Barbie doll during her successful Paris residency.
Celine Dion captivated audiences in Paris with her recent concert residency, marking a triumphant return to the stage following her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome. The 58-year-old singer performed a series of shows at the Plenitude Arena and La Défense Arena, showcasing both her vocal prowess and iconic fashion choices.
During one performance, Dion sported a striking black sculptural bustier paired with a long black skirt, an Alaia piece she initially layered with a statement coat.
For her final concert in the series, Dion stepped out in a reimagined version of the shimmering Chanel gown she first wore at the 1997 Oscars. This couture creation, reinterpreted by Chanel's creative director Matthieu Blazy, was adorned with thousands of jewels and beads, celebrating fashion history and Dion's enduring style. The performance also featured the stunning 18-karat white gold Chanel Comète necklace, a piece with a sweeping, asymmetrical design set with 1,080 diamonds.
The original gown, a plunging silhouette with a starry necklace, was designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld and remains a memorable red-carpet moment.
In parallel with her residency, Dion was honored with a Barbie doll created by Mattel, inspired by her navy, long-sleeved dress worn during her 1998 Oscars performance of "My Heart Will Go On." The doll also features a blue necklace, a nod to the "heart of the ocean" from the film Titanic. "It is a true honor to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of my career," Dion stated. "I hope this doll inspires everyone to express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams and believe in the power of their own voice."
Dion's return to the stage comes after a hiatus due to her battle with stiff-person syndrome. Despite a recent moment during a concert where she momentarily forgot her words and lost her balance, she has expressed her determination to make her health journey "my reason for living."
