Celine Dion displayed a playful side with her bodyguard outside her Paris hotel, engaging in an animated boxing match and dancing with fans. The impromptu moments occurred after her recent comeback performances in the French capital.
Dion, 58, wore a brown knitted hooded top and a matching skirt. She was seen performing exaggerated dance moves, blowing kisses, and making the 'call me' gesture while interacting with fans. These appearances have become a nightly ritual as she meets supporters outside the Royal Monceau hotel following her return to the stage.
The superstar is in Paris for a five-week residency, her first concert series since canceling the remainder of her Courage world tour in 2023 due to her health. Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) in December 2022. The condition causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms, which at its worst impacted her ability to walk and sing.
In 2024, Dion vowed to sing again and has since embarked on an intense rehabilitation program. This includes new medication, physical therapy, vocal therapy, and immunotherapy. To maintain physical readiness, she engages in 90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week, alongside twice-weekly ballet and barre classes. Her home gym is equipped with weights, a treadmill, and a reformer machine, contributing to increased flexibility.
Dion has spoken about her health battle, stating in her 2024 documentary, "I Am: Celine Dion," that she has decided to make it her "reason for living." She described her recovery as a process of "falling and getting back up repeatedly" and expressed pride in achieving what her body was not "born to do."
Despite the challenges, Dion has appeared in high spirits during her recent public interactions in Paris. Her residency marks a significant return for the singer, who has been supported by fans throughout her recovery. The current residency is followed by a planned series of 16 shows in autumn 2026 and 10 additional dates in May 2027.
