Liverpool's iconic Cavern Club and the Magical Mystery Tour bus service have been sold by their longtime owners, who are retiring after managing the venues for 35 years. The new ownership, 14 Collective, has stated its intention to work with the existing management team.

Managing director Bill Heckle, who trained as a Beatles guide in 1982, co-founded Cavern City Tours with Dave Jones in 1983. Their ventures grew to include the annual Mathew Street Music Festival and the acquisition of the Magical Mystery Tour bus tours and the Cavern Club venue in 1991.

Heckle described the decision to sell as emotional but proud, emphasizing that the sale was not to the highest bidder and took over five years to find a suitable custodian. "It is an emotional day, but a proud day, for the four Scouse owners," Heckle said in a statement. "We leave with the confidence that the new owners will continue to follow the path we have forged over the last 43 years."

John Lennon's sister, Julia Baird, was among the previous owners and expressed confidence that the Cavern Club is being left "in good hands." The new owners, 14 Collective, stated, "We look forward to working alongside the existing management team, with a real appreciation for what makes the Cavern so special and excitement about what comes next."
